The Shimla Municipal Corporation has now come up with a new policy that will offer a 50% rebate on the garbage bill. The policy will further offer free treatment and registration of the adopted animal.
According to a report published by The Washington Post dated October 21, 2016, there were close to 30 million stray dogs in India.In recent times, pet adoptions are becoming a popular trend much welcomed by animal enthusiasts, pet lovers, and pet owners alike. At the same time vaccination is getting the required attention since rabies is one of the factors to be taken into consideration when it comes to stray dog adoptions.
Earlier, Dr. Umesh Karkare, Founder, Happy Tails Veterinary Speciality, had shared with News On Pets that, “An estimated 35 million stray dogs live in India and according to World Health Organisation (WHO) India faces about 18,000 to 20,000 cases of rabies every year.”
