Voice for Sniffer Dogs
She has agreed to raise her voice and be the voice of the voiceless. “I’m really happy that WWF and I collaborated on this unique and admirable initiative. I’m happy that I’ve been part of this campaign which helps bring forth the amazing work these lovely four-legged friends of ours do to help curb illegal trading. We just recognise the work put behind training these rescue dogs as it helps in the larger picture of curbing various illegal activities and today being Day of Rescue Dogs I’m talking to my audience to make them aware of the work, the importance of the work done and just a general admiration for such initiatives”, Yami told Tribune India.
Sniffer dogs act like tools that help stop illegal activities. The WWF and TRAFFIC’s campaign uses Sniffer dogs to sniff the illegal wildlife trade activity across a different checkpoint in airports. Along with the armed force and other security personnel, these dogs catch hold of wildlife smugglers and put them on alert. The dogs have been trained to sniff out wildlife contraband – tiger bones, elephant tusks, rhino horn, and even live turtles”, states the World Wildlife Fund.
