As hungry as your little fur bud maybe as a pet owner it is your responsibility to feed your pet dog healthy and safe kind of food.
Do remember, that your dog’s digestive system is extremely sensitive and an undesirable food item can cause inexplicable health complications in your dog.
What are the Food Items that You Should Completely Refrain From Feeding Your Pooch?
1. Milk and Ice Cream
Gastrointestinal tract diseases, vomiting, and diarrhea are a direct result due to consumption of dairy products. Reason being, dogs do not have the enzyme that helps digest milk products.
2. Chocolate and Candy
Chocolate and candies are certainly not good for your dog’s health. Chocolate is said to contain theobromine which is as good as poison for the dog. Candies are said to contain xylitol which can cause liver failure. Consumption of both chocolate and candy can cause your dog to vomit.
3. Garlic and Onions
Vets suggest that it is better to not feed your pet dog garlic and onions in any form: fresh, dried, cooked or powdered.
The American Kennel Club states that “Onions contain a toxic principle known as N-propyl disulfide. This compound causes a breakdown of red blood cells, leading to anemia in dogs.”
According to Pet Poison Helpline, garlic too causes red blood cells to rupture resulting in anemia.
4. Grapes and Raisins
Vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, oral ulcers, seizures are some of the symptoms that are normally seen in a pet dog after it has been fed grapes or raisins.
To ensure your four-legged family member stays happy and healthy make it a point to provide nutritious food at all times. Even before you action the nutrition chart, consult with your veterinarian for a second opinion.
